Outreach Marketing Made Easy for Your Apartment Community

Health-Centric Outreach Marketing to Promote Your Apartment Community

It’s January so you know what that means… everyone has made a new year’s resolution to be healthier, but they probably need some help doing it. Your community can help them get there.

 

Need some outreach marketing help? WE GOT YOU. Here’s some tips on how to make this marketing materials #werk for you and your apartment community.

  • Don’t just market to gyms. Think about diabetes centers, doctors offices, and weight loss businesses (like Weight Watchers or MyFitFood-type of services).

  • ADD A FUN TWIST: Calculate the number of calories that can be burned if you live on the second or third floor units and you take the stairs a couple of times a day. How many calories would you burn in a week, a month, or a year? What does that translate to in weight loss?

  • Know your stats. What is your walk score? Bike score? How far are the parks, walking trails, or farmers markets? Mention these when you talk to people.

  • Sell your heart-smart lifestyle as you tour your prospect. Set up a mini model that highlights a health-centric lifestyle. Hand out your Heart Smart bundles as a memorable takeaway after your prospects tour.

  • Magnify your efforts: Are you promoting this lifestyle on your website, social media sites, blog, and advertisements?

We know that sometimes half the battle of outreach marketing is knowing what the heck to even say, am I right?? 

Here’s a script that you can adapt to whatever circumstance you’re in or whatever makes your comfortable. 

“Hello. My name is _______ from _________ Apartments. We are just down the road on ____________. I’m stopping by to invite you to come see what’s poppin’ at our community. We have ____ units which represent the buying power of about ____ individuals. We are always looking for cross promotion opportunities. I’d love to collaborate on _______.

Would it be okay if I left some goodies for you to share with your customers and employees?”

 

Preferred employer feature: police, ems, firefighters and all first responders

First Responders have high-stress jobs and many times go unthanked. Take a little time to show them some love and put together small care packs of cookies, instant coffee or other items!

It may create a good relationship and open opportunities for leasing later. As with any marketing though, you need to know what your goals are for marketing to first responders.

Here’s some you might want to think about, but of course, you’ll want to make sure they’re also specific to your community if you need them to be. 

  • Thank them for what they do in your community to help keep it safe.

  • Thank them for keeping the neighborhood operating well.

  • Introduce yourself as a part of their community and as a partner in building a community all will love.

  • Create a trusting relationship so they are in your corner when you have challenges in your community.

  • Cross-promotion opportunities: We’d love to have them live in our communities! If you have a preferred employer special, don’t forget to include it.

 

Want to know what to say when you drop off your bundles? Here’s a script for you to make your own:

“Hi! I’m the _______ (position) from _____ Apartments here in town. We are located _______ and I’m here to say hello with a few goodies for all of you. We want to thank you for keeping our community safe and operating. I hope you all enjoy these little goodies. We really like to show our appreciation from time to time.” 

Want to kick it up a notch? 

Remember that they have crazy shifts. For example, sometimes they’ll work for 24 hrs and have 48 hrs off.  Along with your bundles or treats, take some books, puzzles or DVDs to the firehouses and police stations to keep them occupied on their down time.
