Are you looking for some out of the box ideas for your resident appreciation? Maybe you’ve been looking for some unique ideas on how to surprise your residents when they least expect it. After all, that surprise and delight that your resident appreciation gifts will give them is going to create that personal connection and loyalty to your community which, hellooooo, that’s the goal folks!

Start a Compliment Wall
You can post some positive and uplifting compliments for your residents to grab as they walk by. It doesn’t have to be anything in depth, just a quick “First of all, you’re awesome” or “Someone’s looking good today!” Is it cheesy? Yes. Will it make your residents smile? Yes. It’s something different and unexpected and your residents will love the extra thought you put into it.
Send a Long Distance Hug
This one is aimed more towards the kiddos in your community, but will mean a lot to their parents as well. A lot of your residents probably don’t live near families so this little idea will help warm their hearts for sure. You’ll have to gather some art supplies to make this happen. Have the kids make their own postcards to send to their loved ones. This is such a good way for you to show your residents that you care and they’ll definitely appreciate.
Host a Craft Night Event
This can be a really simple event and a great way to break the ice and get your residents mingling. You can browse Pinterest to find some ideas on what you want to have your residents create, or give them a few options on what to create. Gather the supplies and any snacks, drinks, or other goodies you want to have and BOOM, you’re ready.
Host a Stress-Free Finals Week for Your Students
Students are always a little on edge and stressed during finals, so this act of appreciation for them is sure to go a long way. If you have the budget for snack, coffee, and energy drinks then that’s a definite plus and will definitely bring in the students. Creating a comfortable and stress-free place to study will mean a lot to them. Encourage them to invite their friends and bingo - there’s some referrals.
Send Some Surprise Notes to Your Residents
Think of this as similar to the compliment wall, but has the ability to be a little more personal. You can do a blitz with the generic “Looking sharp, have a great day!” Or you can write a more personal message to a few residents at a time.
